Description

Our Basic Measurement Lesson Plan defines and distinguishes between length, capacity, and weight. Interactive activities help students generalize their awareness of the terms related to each of the units of measurement, as well as develops critical thinking when distinguishing the applicable unit of measurement.

Classroom Procedure / Teacher Instruction Sample:

1. Display the various measuring tools. Ask students: What do all these items have in common with each other?

2. Allow for responses and discussion. List responses.

3. Ask: What are the differences between each of the items?

4. Allow for responses and discussion. List the responses. Introduce the three measurements by separating the measurement tools.

5. Distribute Basic Measurement content pages. Read and review the information with the students. Save the final question for lesson closing. Use the additional resources to enhance understanding.

6. Distribute Activity pages. Read and review the instructions. Tell students there are two images for each column. Distribute scissors and glue.
