Description

Our interactive Character Changes Lesson Plan helps students to identify the changes that take place with characters in a story, compare and contrast those changes, make inferences and predict behavior based on the changes to improve reading comprehension and critical thinking.

Classroom Procedure / Teacher Instruction Sample:

  1. Ask students: Is there something you made a decision about four or five years ago, but today would make a different decision? Why?
  2. Allow for responses and discussion. Help students understand the changes in themselves over time and the experiences they may have had, may result in making different choices compared to several years ago.
  3. Tell students characters in stories also have experiences which may cause them to change.
  4. Distribute Character Changes (5-6) content pages. Read and review the information with the students. Discuss with students how understanding character changes can help them. Ask other ways it can help.
  5. Save the final question for the closing to the lesson. Use the additional resources to enhance understanding.
