Description

Teach your students to count from 1 to 120 with our Counting to 120 Lesson Plan. Students will be able to begin counting forwards and backwards from a designated number. With hands-on activities, students will gain practical understanding that changing the position of the digit will change the quantity of the number.

Sample Classroom Procedure / Teacher Instruction

  1. Begin by counting together as a group from one to ten.
  2. Count with students as they repeat the numbers 11 – 120.
  3. While reading the content pages, explain that the placement of the digit can change the quantity of the number.
  4. Introduce the notes on counting to 120. Have students practice by asking them to begin counting from various numbers forwards and backwards.
  5. Distribute activity page to students. Students can cover up numbers for a partner to guess using markers as an extension for those who finish early.
  6. Distribute practice page. Check and review the students’ responses. Have students check their work with a partner.
  7. Distribute the homework page.
  8. Review by counting as a group from one to one hundred and twenty.
  9. Allow for any questions.
