### Description

Our Counting Lesson Plan demonstrates to young students how to recognize numbers, numerical order, and number facts. The students will be able use single digits and tens to count from 1 to 100.  Solidify understanding with demonstration and collaborative group learning using the Rhyming Number Word list to reinforce the concepts.

Classroom Procedure Sample:

1. Display the Rhyming Number Words list.
2. Ask ten student volunteers to read each one of the words, one at a time.
3. Ask the class if they notice anything about the word list. (Some may recognize the rhymes related to the numbers.)
4. Allow for responses and discussion. Lead the students to think about other lists if no one has a correct response. Guide the students to the rhyming words/numbers.
5. Write the Number on the blank line following each number word.
6. Go through each number again one at a time with students saying the word aloud, and then saying the matching number. Do this several times, forward and backward.
7. Distribute Counting Worksheet #1. Have students work independently.
8. Review the worksheet with students, allowing volunteers to share responses. Each student will say the number and spell the word.
9. Next, introduce the Numbers from 11 to 20. Display each number with the word next to it.
10. Have volunteers read individually and then together as a class.
11. Distribute Counting Worksheet #2. Have students work independently.
12. Review the worksheet with students, allowing volunteers to share responses. Each student will say the number and spell the word.
13. Next, introduce counting by Tens. Display 10 through 100 for all students to see.
14. Have volunteers read individually and then together as a class.
