Tackle the question “How do seeds turn into plants?” with our interactive How Do Plants Grow? Lesson Plan. This hands-on lesson demonstrates how a plant grows and identifies the basic needs of plants and develops critical thinking as students understand the impact of environment on the vitality of plant life.

Sample Classroom Procedure:

  1. Display the seed and full-grown plant for all students to see. Ask: What is the same and different between the seed and the plant? 2. Allow for responses and discussion. (Students will mention size,

  3. Ask students: How did the seed turn into the plant?
  4. Allow for responses and discussion. (Students may begin to list some of the needs of plants such as water, food, air, Sunlight, etc.)
  5. Distribute the How Do Plants Grow? content page. Read aloud with students, choosing volunteers to read if possible.
  6. Allow for discussion and questions by students as the content is being read aloud.
