Description

Help young students differentiate between needs and wants with our Needs and Wants Lesson Plan.  Students will understand fundamental differences, as well as appropriate prioritization of needs and wants.  Leverage creative imagination, as well as analytical and critical thinking skills as students articulate their individual needs versus wants.

Classroom Procedure / Teacher Instruction Sample:

  1. Separately display at least two needs and two wants and ask students: What are the differences between the groups of items?
  2. Allow for responses and discussion. Guide the discussion to needs and wants.
  3. Ask students what is the top three things a person needs to survive.
  4. Allow for responses and discussions.
  5. Ask students what they would want if they could have anything in the world.
  6. Allow for responses and discussion. Ask students if they would need that item to survive.

Many

I downloaded a number of lessons for my 2nd grade grandson whom I homeschool. They are well thought out, includes links to other information as well as video links. I would have to pay from $10-$20 for a lesson plan that provides this much information! Thank you for giving us an opportunity to go beyond the average education!
