Description

After successfully completing and studying the materials included in our Pushing and Pulling Lesson Plan, students will be able to define force and identify the difference between pushing and pulling, as well as have practical understanding to give examples of each.  This interactive lesson develops analytical and critical thinking skills with practical, real-world examples.

Classroom Procedure / Teacher Instruction Sample:

  1. Display some popular toys, games or other items which involve pushing/pulling. Ask students what the items have in common.
  2. Allow for responses and discussion. Ask students what force or movement is needed to use each item.
  3. Allow for responses and discussion. Introduce the forces: pushing and pulling.
  4. Distribute Pushing and Pulling content pages. Read and review the information with the students. Use the additional resources to enhance understanding.
  5. Distribute Activity pages. Read and review the instructions. Distribute scissors, glue. The images are items or events which are related to pushing and/or pulling. Some answers may vary, such as a lawnmower is typically pushed, but may be pulled.

Great resource when preparing for next school year!

Pushing and Pulling

Excellent resource to teach students about force.
