Description

Our visually engaging and interactive Rainforests Lesson Plan presents students with the definition of a rainforest, as well as the characteristics and the living things of a rainforest.  This lesson engages creativity while strengthening research skills as student investigate the animals of a rainforest, as well as builds confidence with opportunities for class presentation.

Classroom Procedure / Teacher Instruction Sample:

  1. Ask students: In what part of the world would raincoats and umbrellas be the biggest sellers?
  2. Allow for responses and discussion. Introduce rainforest to the students.
  3. Distribute Rainforests content pages. Read and review the information with the students. Save the final question for the lesson closing. Showing a video from the additional resources is recommended for the students to experience life in a rainforest. Use the additional resources to enhance understanding.
  4. Distribute Activity page. Read and review the instructions. Distribute construction paper and colored pencils. Give students access to the Internet or other resources with pictures of the animals. Allow students sufficient time to complete the activity.
  5. When completed, allow each student to share at least 2 of the chosen animals with the class.
