Description

Explore the oceans of the world with our interactive What Lives in the Ocean Lesson Plan.  This engaging lesson prepares students to identify the unique plants and animals that inhabit the ocean.  Generalize understanding and strengthen communication skills as students share what makes their favorite sea animals special to them.

Classroom Procedure Sample Snippet:

  1. Display the two images. Rainforest and Ocean
  2. Ask students: What are the differences between the two pictures? What is the same between the two pictures?
  3. Record the responses for display. Guide students to understanding that both are habitats where living things can be found.
  4. Allow time for responses and discussion.
  5. Distribute What Lives in the Ocean? content page. Read aloud in class using student volunteers. Stress the bold print words and discuss any questions students may have during the reading.
  6. At the end of the reading discuss the question: What is your favorite sea animal and why? Allow students time to respond.
  7. Distribute coloring pages for in-class work or to be done at another time.
  8. Distribute Homework word search page.
  9. To close the lesson, review the information from the content pages.

Love Love

This was an awesome site I ran upon on accident. I'm a first grade teacher and many of Clarendon lesson plansespecially on Oceans have been a huge help to me. I plan to use this website with implementing my daily lessons. Great information.
